Ideal Candidates
- Recent college graduates or those pursuing a degree in Human Services or a related field
- Current nursing students or Certified Nurses Aides
- Family members of individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability
- Those with a demonstrated passion for helping others
Core Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working or volunteering to assist individuals with a intellectual or developmental disability
- Valid and clean Texas driver's license, active automotive insurance, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel
- Must meet training requirements prescribed by the State and company, including but not limited to First Aid, CPR, and medication administration
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
A Day in the Life
- Providing clients with training and support in independent living skills
- Accurately communicate and complete all documentation for individual program plans
- Engage the individual in his/her chosen activities which could include games and exercise, appointments, or even trips to places such as movie theaters, retail stores, and restaurants
- Serve as an appropriate role model and engage in interactions which ensure the rights of all clients and their families
- Act as a professional representative of BOC with regards to appearance, behavior, communication, and dress
